Can a High School Prepare you for College?

I received these following comments from Jesse Crall in an email. Jesse has agreed to be involved with this process and will soon be posting his thoughts directly.

"I don't [know if] any high school prepares you for college. The environment and the responsibility is far greater than high school and I just don't think it can be prepared for. Obviously, it really depends on the student and what courses they took. If college courses were taken, like the ones we took, the individual will be better prepared as well as if they were involved in programs like Talent Search. Adams City is actually sending students that want to take college courses to Front Range to take the courses there, which gives them a better grasp than the courses being taught at the high school."

I kind of agree... however, I think that the way the world is changing there needs to be a way to try and target as many students as possible, not only the students that are involved, if you will.

I do know that many of these programs are getting budget cuts and what not so it is becoming increasingly difficult to get this involvement in positive programs that encourage students.

Another side note, once in college, I think they offer many many many resources to their students, it comes on the individual to go in on office hours for help or get in study groups and stuff. That in itself may be difficult but hey it's a resource not many people totally use.

I will add on as I organize my thoughts a little better.
