As students graduate from Adams City High School it has been an unfortunate truth that students do not feel academically prepared for college. It is my effort to bring alumni together from years past to provide a unique perspective to this current issue. As you go through your college years and see areas that you lack ability due to academic preparation or think of suggestions that could improve the educational environment of ACHS please add those ideas and thoughts to this blog. Please, I ask you to not limit your additions to simply that, I challenge you to take this beyond its original purpose.
It is my intent that this wealth of knowledge can aid in making a difference for future generations.
Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past or present are certain to miss the future.
~John F. Kennedy
Let us help our community and former school in their endeavor to usher in change, in our unique situation the future is directly within our purview.

Well going back and helping at the school, I can see some of the basic problems with this whole process...
To even go to college and face the challenges, you need to make it there. Many students are not getting the help needed to apply in time. I think that many of the students are applying for the first time or they are applying on their own and it just becomes a hard process (gathering letters of reccomendation, fee waviers, official transcripts, deadlines, tests, etc)
A lot of this just becomes overwhelming. Students are looking into schools a little late to do what they initially would want to do... get what I'm saying?
They are forced to basically go to a CC instead of the school of their choice.
Also, money becomes an issue. I think many don't realize that there is money out there, but then again it is just an added worry.
I think that a more structured way to apply, not holding their hands though, would help out immensly.
I can think of a few more things... this is just a little too much for this blog comment... for another day...
